Main window of TraySafe

There are two general panels in the main window of TraySafe. First one is a list of the opened password files with accounts, organized in tree. Second panel can contain password file information or it can be an edit panel for accounts. (In the Server panel mode password management software also shows third panel with network users.)

New password file creation, folder and file name selection

When creating a new password file, TraySafe, unlike many other programs, offers to choose a name and a folder for it. On default for password files storage the password manager offers subfolder TraySafe storage of your default documents folder.

When the name is chosen, TraySafe asks to enter a password for access to originating passwords and accounts file, as well as to indicate if this password will be connected to the current hardware environment.

When creating a new passwords and accounts file, a user can change settings of the crypto algorithm and its integrity verifying scheme.

Constant Password Mode Usage

Constant password mode dialog manages the level of passwords and accounts file secrecy. In other words, by using this mode, user can “point” to the program that it should enter the password automatically when at the file opening. Thus, there is no need to enter the password every time at passwords file opening. However, it lessens the level of password file protection (in case if there is a probability of unauthorized access to the computer under the same user’s name).

Tip Setting

A tip can be set for every passwords and accounts file. The password will be prompted to user if he forgets it. It is clear that any other person must not be able to guess the tip.

Restoring password file from a backup copy.

Password manager can create numerous backup copies of passwords and accounts files. User can restore any of saved backup copies of the accounts file in case of its accidental removal or damaging.

Passwords and Accounts File Export

By using this function user can get the password file in CSV-format for data migration between applications, as well as for other purposes.

Accounts and Passwords Import

Due to the Import function, tree-type structure with values of all fields, including password fields, can be entered into a current (or a newly created) passwords and accounts file.

Passwords and Accounts File Printing

The Printing function can be viewed from different points. On the one hand, it can be most reliable, paper backup copy of all user’s passwords and accounts. On the other hand, it can be general layout for removal of unneeded, out-of-date logins and passwords or reorganization of the tree they are kept at.

Random Password Generation

Password generator is used both as a program function for user available through the menu, and as an inner program function used at the account creation stage. Random password generator uses random generating of capital and/or small Latin letters, numbers and additional symbols from the pointed list.

Password Generation Using Dictionary

This instrument is in fact a password maker – program that transforms a randomly selected from the offered dictionary word according to the generator settings. By default the program uses an English dictionary that includes almost 40,000 elements, including many personal names.

Search

The search is performed through the text fields in all open passwords files (or, at user’s option, only in current file or certain account tree).
